A Beautiful Beginning...

Here's the things about weddings this year....they are unpredictable with dates, venues, and vendors changing on a moment's notice. Holly and Jeff's wedding was no different in the midst of the pandemic. They didn't have the original date they planned, they didn't have their first choice of venue or bakery and the floral shop had closed. But what made their day SO SPECIAL was the grace that made them persevere through the chaos . They were surrounded by family that loved them and found true peace and inner joy that only a wedding day can bring.

From the moment I stepped through the front door to begin photographing the details of their special day, I could feel the pure joy and happiness radiating throughout the house. Holly and her daughters, Madeline and Emily were finishing up getting their hair done and starting on their makeup with the stylist, Amber. Their smiles lit up the room as they discussed lip colors and eye shadow applications. Holly looked radiant and truly happy. This was the start to a beautiful afternoon.

The Details...

As the girls finished up getting ready, I started capturing the details. The dress, hanging so perfectly on the hanger, the bouquet which Jeff's mom, Caryn so lovingly made when they realized that the floral shop had closed. And lastly, which is my favorite detail of all, the rings. The symbol of the love of two people, presented on their fingers for all to see. There's something so special about seeing a bride and groom wear their rings for the first time and I definitely did not want to miss showcasing their gorgeous rings from Casa de Oro Jewelers.

Final Preparations...

It was time to get dressed!! This wedding was FINALLY happening!! Caryn and Rick made everyone feel at home in their home by making sure we all had snacks, drinks and a sense of relaxation. We discussed plans for the "first look" while Holly and the girls got dressed. I caught some in between sweet moments with Karen (Holly's mom) and Emily, talking about the history of her jewelry and how special it is. There is something so wonderful about time spent with a grandmother. Seeing the sweet love between Karen and Emily made my heart melt. I love those moments "in between". The moments that can often be lost during a busy wedding day and I make it my mission to not miss those. I love the look on Karen's face as she zipped Holly into her dress. I love the look on Caryn's face as she finalized the boutenniere that would be delicately fastened to her son's new suit. I'm sure they were both thinking of how quickly the years go by.

It's Showtime...

The "first look" is such an exciting time!! It wasn't done back when we got married but I believe it is such an important part of the day for a few reasons. It gives the couple a chance to see each other and take each other in. All of these months of planning and preparation, all coming together for THIS MOMENT. A "first look" also gives us more time before the ceremony for bridal portraits in a relaxed atmosphere. Lastly, it gives the bride and groom some time to relax and enjoy a few quiet moments together before the ceremony. I stood in the corner of the living space with Holly facing me. The excitement on her face said it all. She was ready for this moment!! I asked Caryn to bring Jeff in backwards and to stop in the doorway so there was no chance of him sneaking a peek before we were ready! Once Jeff was placed, I focused on him as Holly turned around and his expression was priceless. The look on his face was pure love and excitement.

Show Me Some Love...

I took the happy couple outside for some bridal portraits before the ceremony. Holly and Jeff were naturals. They were calm and beautiful as the tree lined street had flickers of sunlight adding dimension of color to their day. Sometimes it's difficult to have couples relax, especially when having professional photos taken and their mind is racing with details of the day. But not these two... the fresh air and sunshine added an element of beauty along with their fun loving personalities that shows in their photos. They are an exquisite couple. Not just in looks, but also in the way they present themselves. They are loving to each other and to their children and their families.

Let's Tie the Knot...

The ceremony was outside under a pavillion in Caryn and Rick's backyard lined with immediate family members to honor them and their love for one another. It was the perfect setting for uniting Holly and Jeff in marriage. They said their vows, said "I do" and were finally husband and wife!! Everybody clapped and cheered! They hugged Karen and Biv, Caryn and Rick, and Holly's grandfather "Pop". I overheard Emily and Madeline say "we are REAL sisters now" as they shared a genuine embrace. Brandon and Charlie (Holly and Jeff's sons) joined in on the celebration and congratulated the happy couple.

Let's Celebrate!

Following the ceremony, there was an intimate dinner at the Springfield Grille for immediate family. It was a time of laughs, great conversation and delicious food. The decorations set up by Caryn and Rick were nothing short of perfect in their decor. The tables were eloquently lit by soft candlelight and every detail was thought of from the heart shaped wine stoppers as favors to the beautiful cake topper designed and made with love by Jeff's mom, Caryn. The cake itself from Giant Eagle was as beautiful as it was delicious.

Holly and Jeff were surrounded in love that day. They spent the day with those who love them most and those whom they love most. July 25, 2020 was great start to what is sure to be a beautiful journey of marriage. Cheers to Holly and Jeff!! Congratulations to you both!
